Create and Connect Project Tasks
Explanation
There are three ways of creating a project task. The first is to create a new record
in the 
Project Tasks window. Right-click on the 
Project Tasks 
window, point to the Project 
Connection menu option and click Connect to Activity to connect it to an activity. The second is to select the
activity to which it should be connected in the graphical structure navigator in 
Project
Navigator and then insert a new record in the 
Tasks tab. The third is
to insert a new record in the  
Activity/Tasks tab.
If the task is connected to an activity, the task will report progress, 
hours and cost
information to the activity. The task is only able to
report cost and hours when the planned values are registered
with the relevant cost elements . For more information, see

Prerequisites
  - There are no prerequisites for creating a task. However, to be able to connect it to an
    activity, the activity must exist.
- If you want to use milestones to report progress on the task, a progress 
	template must
    exist.
System Effects
A new task is created and connected to an activity. The progress, 
	cost and hours information for the task are reported to the connected
    activity.

Procedure
Create a new task:
  - Open the 
	Project Tasks window and create a new record.
- Enter the task ID and any additional task information. 
- Add planned
    cost and/or hours which define the cost and hours for the task. If you want 
	to connect this task to a project activity enter relevant cost elements for 
	the cost and hours.
- If you would like to use milestones to report cost and progress to a connected activity,
    select a progress template.
- Save the new task.
  To connect the new task to an activity, continue with the 
	following next steps:
  - Right click on the 
	Project Tasks window, point to the Project Connection menu option and 
	click Connect to Activity.
- Enter the activity ID you wish to connect the task to, or select from the List of
    Values.
- Save the connection.
Create a new task which is automatically connected 
to an activity:
  - Select the activity in the graphical structure navigator in
    the  
    Project 
	Navigator window, and click on the
    
	Tasks tab.
- Alternatively, you can open the 
	Activity window and 
	click on the 
	Task tab.
- Create a new task.
- Enter the task ID and any additional task information. 
- Add planned values for cost 
	and/or hours with relevant cost elements.
- If you would like to use milestones to report cost and progress to a connected activity,
    select a progress template.
- Save the new task.
