Connect GIS Object to IFS Business Object
[About GIS Integration] [GIS Concepts]

Integration]
Explanation
This activity is used to connect GIS object and IFS business object. A
connection can be made in two different ways:
- By using a Link Object dialog in GIS Map window.
- By manually creating a connection in GIS Connections
window and manually inserting the value for IFS ID on the GIS object.
Prerequisites
The following must be fullfilled:
- A field that allows the value for IFS ID to be saved on the layer in
ArcGIS must exist. The default name for the field is IFSID, but it is
possible to have a different name. The field name is controlled by a setting in
Map Services/Basic Data/GIS Settings window. The
name of the setting is IFS_ID_FIELD_NAME: Define GIS
Settings.
- Edit capabilities should have been enabled on the layer's feature
service. Edit capabilities for a feature service are configured outside IFS
Applications. On an internal ArcGIS server, the edit capabilities can be
toggled on/off in ArcGIS Server Manager. The similar settings are found in
the layers service page on ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Portal. Consult ArcGIS
online documentation for more details about how to control these settings.
- The map service must have been added in proxy configuration. The proxy
configuration is controlled by a setting in Map Services/Basic
Data/GIS Settings window. The name of the setting is
PROXY_CONFIGURATION Define GIS
Settings. Information about how to add a map service in the proxy
is also described in
GIS
Concepts.
- GIS object's layer should have been defined as Editable in GIS
Layer Mapping window.
- Layer should have been made available for the user in
GIS Layer Group window.
System Effects
A connection between GIS Object and IFS business object is created:
- A unique IFS ID value is added on the GIS object in ArcGIS.
- A connection line is created in GIS Connections
window.
