Add Position on Map

Explanation

Use this activity to add or delete one or more position objects for a business object. You can also add notes to a map position and set a map position to be the default if there are more than one position attached to an object.

Prerequisites

The service name MapPositions or MapPositionsFree should be added to the Service List for the business object type which is being defined on the Object Connections window.

System Effects

One or more position objects will be created and connected to the required business object at the geographical position specified on the map. Position objects can also be removed.

Procedure

To position an object, open a detail or an overview window for a business object and query for the required business object.

In Attachments / Map Positions (included in Virtual Map):

  1. On the Attachments Panel click Map Positions.
  2. Map view: Right click and click Add Position at the required position on the map. To remove a position, right click and click Remove Position. Similarly, you can add notes to a map position, or make it the default one by right clicking the map position and selecting the appropriate command. The changes are saved automatically.
  3. Table / grid view: Right click on the table and click Add Position. Enter the longitude and latitude of the business object. Notes can be added by entering them directly in the grid. Make a position the default one by selecting the check box of the position that should be the default one. To save, right click and click Save Changes.

In Attachments / Map Positions (free version):

  1. On the Attachments Panel click Map Positions.
  2. Map view: To add a position, click the Position button menu on the map, then click Add. Move the mouse to where you want the new position and left-click the map. To remove a position, click Delete and click the position to be removed. Similarly, you can add notes to a map position, or make it the default one by using the other commands under the Position menu. The changes are saved automatically.
  3. Table / grid view: Right click on the table and click Add Position. Enter the longitude and latitude of the business object. Right click and click Save Changes. To remove the position, right click on the table and click Delete Position. Notes can be added by entering them directly in the grid. Make a position the default one by selecting the check box of the position that should be the default one. To save, right click and click Save Changes.
