Modify Reserved Serial Structure
Explanation
Use this activity to modify the reserved serial number structure for shop order parts.
You can move serial components between parts. You can also reserve new serial numbers and
unreserve serial numbers for components by using the right mouse button menu.
Prerequisites
This activity requires that the parent part, including its component parts, is defined
as an inventory serial tracking part in
Part.
The serial numbers must have been reserved for the shop order parent parts.
Material must have been reserved for the shop order.
System Effects
As a result of this activity, the system modifies the reserved serial number structure
for shop order parts. Unused reserved serial components are displayed in the child table
on the right side of the
Tracked Structure tab.

Procedure
- In the Shop Order As-Built Structure or Shop Floor Workbench window, query for the shop order for which you want to
modify the reserved serial number structures.
- To view the reserved serial number structures in the
Tracked
Structure tab, right-click and then click
Expand (for one level) or
Expand
Descendents.
- To remove a serial component from a part, select the serial
component to remove in the tree structure in the Tracked
Structure
tab, right-click and then click
Remove Component.
It is also possible to remove the components by dragging the components from
the structure. The serial component is moved from the tree structure to
the child table in the
Tracked Structure
tab.
- To add a serial component or components to a part, select
the serial component or components to add in the child table in the
Tracked
Structure tab, select the part in the tree structure,
right-click and then click Add Components.
It is also possible to add the components by dragging to the structure.
The serial component or components are moved from the child table to the
tree structure in the
Tracked Structure
tab.
