Move To Another Site/Stock Location
Explanation
Move of part can either be done by specifying a specific part and qty to be
moved or by specifying a handling unit to be moved. When moving a handling unit
it means that all the content of that handling unit is moved to the new
location.
When you want to move a part or a handling unit, you can choose whether the parts
or handling unit should be moved directly
to an inventory location or be moved to transit. Only the available quantity is
possible to move to transit. If parts are reserved to customer order or shop
order demands then it is possible to move those reserved stock to a different
inventory location in the same site. When moving consignment stock handled
parts, you must specify whether the parts should be consumed; use the displayed dialog box
to accomplish this. However, moving consignment parts between locations can only
be done if the locations belong to the same site.
When a part is moved from one location to another, you have the option to change the availability control if either one of the involved locations have
an availability control defined. When moving a part you can also set a W/D/R
number if you, for example, would like to have different availability controls
for the same part on the same location.

Prerequisites
  - The location to which you move the parts must be any of these location types: picking,
    floor stock, or production line.
- To be able to move parts to a site other than the default user site, the site
must have been connected to the user ID on the

	Sites per User window.
- Parts should not be frozen for counting at the involved locations.
- To move the parts in project inventory to
a location at a different site, that site must have been defined as an allowed site for the
    project in the
	Project window.
- To be able to move reserved parts Move Reserved control
	in Site/Extended Site
	Info/Inventory tab
should be set to Not Pick
	Listed, Not on Printed
	Pick List or Allowed.
- To be able to move reserved parts they should be reserved to customer order,
project deliverable, material requisition, shop order or DOP order demands.
System Effects
  - Parts will be moved among the different locations.
- The
Quantity Onhand field will be changed according to your choice.
- If you choose to enter a note, it will be entered in the inventory transaction.
- When moving a handling unit, the content of parts will be moved. All
inventory transactions are done per part and quantity of what is packed in
the handling unit. After the move of a handling unit you can see that
handling unit and its structure on the new location.
Note: When considering different inventory and
movement of parts, it is important to note that there are two other
activities—
Transfer To Project Inventory and Transfer To Standard Inventory—that are
included in the Transfer To/From Project Inventory scenario. These activities result
in the movement of parts between standard and project inventories. They do not
result in the physical movement of parts, but shows whether the parts are
connected to a project or not. Similarly the activity Move To Another Site/Stock
Location will only move parts between locations, without changing the connected
project.
