Layer Mapping

Usage

This window is used to configure the content to be shown in GIS Map. This is done by first entering a service (URL) and then by defining the relationship between geographical layers in geodatabase (Layer ID) and business object's logical unit (LU name) in IFS Application. This enables two things:

Entered service URLs must have been enabled with write access, in order to enable connections to be made between GIS object and IFS business object, in GIS Map window. Those services are often referred to as feature service. An IFS business object ID is saved on the GIS object in geodatabase once a connection is made in GIS Map window and that is the reason why a write access must have be enabled for the service. Services with read-only access are often referred to as map service and will not enable connections to be made in GIS Map window, since they don't allow IFS business object ID to be saved in geodatabase.

Possible values in the field LU Name are controlled by Solution Manager/Configuration/Object Connections window, by setting the service name GisintConnections in the Service List field. A condition enables some selected business objects from the LU to be represented by a specific layer. For example an LU with a condition that only retrieves business objects of type Valve, to be connected against a layer that represents valves in the geodatabase. This will restrict possible connections in GIS Map window, to only be made between business objects of type Valve and GIS objects that are represented by the layer for valves. Another condition could then be made against the same LU, for example retrieve business objects of type Pump to be connected against a layer that represents pumps in the geodatabase. This will restrict possible connections in GIS Map window, to only be made between business objects of type Pump and GIS objects that are represented by the layer for pumps.

Layer mapping once defined should also be made available on per user in IFS. This is done in the window GIS Layer Groups. GIS objects not made available for the user will not be shown for him in GIS Map.

An expert on IFS Applications knows about IFS business objects and required LUs.
